Thai tattoo artist allegedly rapes client, leading to attempted suicide
A Thai mother is seeking justice for her 20 year old daughter, who attempted suicide after being raped by a tattoo artist in Bangkok. The victim is in a critical condition and the alleged rapist has not yet been apprehended.
The victim’s mother told Channel 7 that her daughter sent a message saying, “Mother, I love you” on July 12, the day of the incident. When the daughter failed to respond to further messages, the mother grew concerned and asked her husband, the victim’s stepfather, to check on her at their home in Bangkok.
Upon arrival, the stepfather discovered his stepdaughter unconscious and hanging from the ceiling. He cut her down and rushed her to hospital. However, because of a lack of oxygen to the brain, she remains unconscious.
To understand why her daughter attempted suicide, the mother checked the young woman’s mobile phone, where she discovered a conversation with a friend about the alleged rape by a tattoo artist known only as Gap.
The mother revealed that her daughter previously asked for permission to get a tattoo but she did not allow her to do so because of the size of the design she showed to her. She urged her daughter to get a small one and avoid visiting the studio alone due to potential dangers.
Despite her mother’s refusal, the young woman went to the tattoo studio on the day of the incident, accompanied by two male friends. One was an older friend who took her to the studio but the identity of the other remains unknown.
Armed with this information, the mother attempted to file a complaint against the tattoo artist at Bangna Police Station but officers reportedly refused to take her statement, insisting that she wait until her daughter recovered.
Tragically, doctors confirmed that the victim is unlikely to regain consciousness. In response, the mother decided to expose the tattoo artist’s alleged crime to the media.
Following widespread coverage of the story, Bangna Police Station officers agreed to investigate the case. However, they claimed that their initial refusal to take the complaint was due to the victim being the most important source of information.
