Love struck Thai teen ignores injuries to save girlfriend’s sandals
In a heart-stopping dramatic scene that unfolded yesterday afternoon, a love struck teen ignored his own well-being and injuries following a violent collision with a pickup truck to save a treasured gift from his girlfriend.
The 17 year old motorcyclist, affectionately known as Off, had a brush with disaster yesterday, December 18, in front of a school on Road 3371 in the Nikhom Phatthana district of Rayong province. Despite sustaining leg injuries in the crash, Off refused urgent medical attention until rescuers retrieved his sandals, gifted to him by his beloved girlfriend.
Officers from Nikhom Phatthana Police Station and Siam Rayong Rescue volunteers rushed to the scene after reports of the accident, Channel 7 reported. There, they discovered the injured teenager, whose motorcycle lay in ruin after colliding with the pickup truck mid-U-turn.
While rescuers prepared to whisk him away to Nikhom Phatthana Hospital, Off astonished medical staff by refusing.
“Brother, find me a pair of sandals because they are the shoes my girlfriend just bought for me.”
Prioritising the sentimental footwear over his injuries, Off stood firm until the rescue team relented and found his precious sandals.
Locals recounted the scene, explaining that the pickup was executing a U-turn when the unsuspecting teen rode straight into its path. The front of Off’s motorcycle bore the brunt of the impact, leaving it severely damaged.
Eventually, rescue workers succeeded in rescuing the sandals and transported the teenage boy to hospital. It’s reported that OFF, a student from Prachinburi Province on an internship in Rayong, knew no one in the area, making his ordeal even more isolating.
Miraculously, the devoted boyfriend escaped severe injury, although police officers will have to wait for his recovery before seeking a resolution with the driver of the pickup truck involved.
