A man under the influence of alcohol fabricated a story accusing a monk of firing a gun into the sky, leading to the man’s arrest at Mo Chit Bus Terminal in Bangkok. He was found with an air gun and later confessed to making a false report after consuming alcohol.

Police, led by Phuwadol Ounpho, the commander of Bang Sue Police Station, responded to a report received yesterday, November 18 at 3pm. The report claimed a monk had fired two shots into the air. Upon the arrival of law enforcement officers at the scene, they searched the monk but found no firearms.

The situation took an unexpected turn when Bamrung, identified as the individual who reported the incident, was spotted in the same area. His suspicious behaviour drew the attention of the officers as he attempted to approach the monk. A search revealed an air gun tucked behind him. Consequently, he was taken into custody for further investigation at Bang Sue Police Station.

“I admit to drinking alcohol and making the call to the police,” Bamrung confessed during questioning.

His actions led to charges of causing panic or fear through threats. Although he was fined 1,000 baht, he was unable to pay the penalty, resulting in his detention.

“We take every report seriously,” said one of the officers involved in the operation. “False alarms can distract us from genuine emergencies.”

The police emphasised the importance of accurate reporting and the consequences of making false claims.

Bamrung’s arrest and subsequent admission underline the consequences of irresponsible actions. The police remain committed to maintaining public safety and ensuring that justice is served. While the air gun was not a lethal weapon, carrying it in a public area and using it to concoct a story posed a risk to public order, reported KhaoSod.
