In a devastating accident today at a Cherng Talay construction site, a concrete mixer truck driver lost his life when his vehicle overturned, trapping him underneath. Khannuch, from Phetchabun Province, met a tragic end after the ground gave way, causing his truck to topple into a 4-metre-deep pit.

Cherng Talay police received an urgent distress call at approximately 11.10am and dispatched officers to Soi Khok Tonode 1. Three rescue teams from the Phuket Kusoldharm Foundation, Cherng Talay Municipality, and the Cherng Talay Tambon Administrative Organisation (OrBorTor) also rushed to the scene.

Upon arrival, responders found a white-and-blue concrete mixer truck, owned by PCL Transport Co Ltd and registered in Phuket, overturned and wedged in the construction pit. The accident unfolded after the unstable ground at the edge of the pit gave way beneath the vehicle.

Despite the swift arrival of rescue teams, the 56 year old Khannuch was found unresponsive and was pronounced dead at the scene. Rescue workers employed hydraulic equipment to extricate his body, which was finally recovered around 1.15pm.

Khannuch’s wife recounted the tragic series of events.

“He had arrived at the site at around 11am to deliver 5 cubic metres of cement. As he drove out of the pit, the ground beside it collapsed, causing the truck to overturn.”

Khannuch’s body was transported to Thalang Hospital, where an examination will be conducted to determine the exact cause of death.
