Bangkok ranked fourth most searched destination in the world
One of the world’s leading online travel agencies ranked Bangkok as the fourth most searched destination in the world.
Prime Minister Office Spokesperson Chai Watcharong announced the good news for Thai tourism at a recent press conference, saying that Bangkok, the capital of Thailand, was praised by eDreams Odigeo, is one of the top ten destinations most searched for by tourists around the world.
Bangkok was only behind London, Paris, and New York, the top three in the ranking. The other countries on the list were Barcelona in Spain, Istanbul in Turkey, Tokyo in Japan, Rome in Italy, Milan in Italy and Madrid in Spain.
Aside from eDreams Odigeo’s list, Bangkok also got its name on the list of one of the most popular destinations in Asia, according to the website Travel Off Path. The website stated that Bangkok is one of the most perfect destinations this winter due to its warm weather, with temperatures ranging from 24°C to 32°C.
The website also added that Bangkok offers a perfect and unique mix of ancient temples, lively markets and peaceful scenery like a film set.
Beaming with pride, Thailand Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin expressed his delight at the accomplishment, extending gratitude to the various governmental departments instrumental in elevating the nation’s tourism industry.
The 61 year old Thai PM also conveyed appreciation to the countless tourists who graced Bangkok and other provinces in Thailand. He emphasised that the government will continue to find areas of improvement to provide better facilities, safety and tourism experiences that meet the needs of tourists while preserving the unique Thai culture.
Bangkok recorded another popularity list in February this year. The city was listed as the second most popular destination for Valentine’s Day, according to Agoda. The other two cities in the top three were Tokyo and Singapore. The list was compiled from the search history on the booking platform.
Bangkok was also the most visited city in the world this year, according to a report by Travelness in June. Bangkok beat the previous champion, Paris, with 22.78 million foreign visitors.
