Bangkok crowned world’s most visited city in 2023

World of Statistics has recently crowned Bangkok as the world’s most visited city in 2023, bringing in an impressive 22.78 million tourists. This achievement is doubly significant as Thailand sees not just one, but three of its cities listed in the top 20 most popular tourist destinations. Alongside Bangkok, Phuket and Pattaya also made the cut, ranking 14th and 15th respectively.

The rankings were unveiled on December 27, revealing a list of the top 20 cities worldwide in terms of tourist influx for the year. Bangkok, known for its vibrant culture and bustling city life, comfortably held the top spot with a whopping 22.78 million visitors.

The list continued with Paris, the romantic capital of France, securing the silver medal with 19.10 million tourists. London, England, followed closely, nabbing the third spot with 19.09 million visitors. Dubai, United Arab Emirates, and Singapore rounded off the top five, with 15.93 million and 14.67 million tourists respectively.

The remainder of the top 20 list included cities from every corner of the globe. Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, ranked sixth, followed by New York, USA, in seventh. Istanbul, Turkey, Tokyo, Japan, and Antalya, Turkey, occupied the eighth, ninth, and tenth spots respectively.

Seoul, South Korea, ranked 11th, followed by Osaka, Japan, and Mecca, Saudi Arabia, in the 12th and 13th positions. The two other Thai cities, Phuket and Pattaya, ranked 14th and 15th, having welcomed 9.89 million and 9.44 million visitors respectively.

The list concluded with Milan, Italy, in 16th place, Barcelona, Spain, in 17th, Palma, Spain, in 18th, and Bali, Indonesia, and Hong Kong in the 19th and 20th spots, reported The Pattaya News.

According to World of Statistics’ report, Phuket has welcomed 9.89 million visitors while Pattaya has received 9.44 million.
