ICONSIAM’s billion baht renovation: M and first floors set for stunning transformation
ICONSIAM Mall is preparing a substantial investment of 1 billion baht for a significant renovation of the complex, set to start in July 2024. The refurbishment is specifically targeted at the M and first floors of ICONSIAM, with the project expected to run until mid-2025.
The company’s managing director, Supoj Chaiwatsirikul, explained that the ICONSIAM billion baht renovation will adjust the merchandise offering in the fashion and jewellery zone to better meet customer needs.
Chaiwatsirikul also disclosed that about 50-60 local and international fashion, food and beverage companies are waiting for the ICONSIAM billion baht renovation.
“The plan is to include flagship stores of selected luxury brands and bring in international food and beverage choices in response to customer demand.”
Additionally, an extra allocation of 200 million baht is planned for developing a new attraction on the eighth floor, set to start in 2025. A year-long feasibility study will be conducted to find an appropriate museum to fill a 5,000-square-metre space on the same floor, with construction due to start in 2025.
Chaiwatsirikul attributed ICONSIAM’s significant success and business growth over its five-year existence to its multi-faceted nature as a destination rather than just a shopping complex.
Soft power promotion
He noted that despite the Covid-19 crisis causing a shift in customer base from foreign tourists to local clients and expatriates, he is confident that the government’s soft power promotion plans will boost the country’s tourism sector and attract foreign tourists next year and the ICONSIAM billion baht renovation will certainly help.
Chaiwatsirikul added that ICONSIAM is planning to work with international partners to organise high-profile events throughout the year, promoting Thai traditional festivals on a grand scale. As part of these efforts, ICONSIAM is collaborating with entities like Kasikornbank, Magnolia Quality Development Corporation Co, The ICONSIAM Superlux Residence Corporation Co, and Thai Yamaha Motor Co to plan a grand fifth-anniversary campaign.
This campaign, with a budget of 500 million baht, will run for five months and will include world-class events, promotions, special offers, and entertainment activities.
The goal is to leverage Thailand’s soft power to attract global tourists and partner with internationally renowned artists as well as local talent. Among the international artists slated to participate in the fifth-anniversary celebration on November 9 are South Korean actor Lee Junho of the TV series King the Land and boy band 2PM, and Mark Tuan, a former member of the boy band GOT7.
