Total body transformation at Thanyapura

PHUKET: Many have tried it, few have made it and all of them have proven the maxim – losing weight and getting in shape is no easy task. But, as with any difficult task, it’s easier if you have somebody to lean on. This is why Thanaypaura Phuket has extended a helping hand to all those people out there who have “tried everything”.

Starting on September 15, Thanyapura will be introducing two, eight-week-long training programs, named Fat Burn and Body Transformation.

“The first one is about losing the maximum amount of weight, the second is more focused on shaping certain groups of muscles,” explains Chris Weeks, Thanyapura’s Fitness Manager.

In the Body Transformation program, the exercises will vary depending on the sex of the participant. “For women, we will be focusing on lower body parts, legs, bum and stomach; and for men, more of shoulder, chest and abs focus,” explains Chris.

That said, both programs and all exercises will have one thing in common: it’s not going to be easy.

“The exercises are going to be of a pretty high intensity to bring the metabolism up. If you do long duration but easy effort, your body might burn some calories but your metabolism gets lowered. But when you do a short and intensive effort, then your body understands that it’s not quite good enough for the task you’re asking of it. It realizes that it’s uncomfortable and it starts changing and improving,” says Chris.

And you can believe him, he is a level-three Advanced Personal Trainer – in other words, he’s a pro.
For all the effort you’ll be putting into training, you deserve some kind of reward, and what better way to reward yourself than with a hefty meal?

For participants in the programs the meals will not only be rewarding, but also smart, and will help them get closer to their goals. Special guidelines prepared by the coaches, both of them educated in nutrition, will help in balancing caloric intake, while not starving. After all, it’s not only about looking good, but feeling good too.

“The first priority is health. If you look great and feel awful on the inside I feel like I’ve failed, and this is not our goal,” says Chris.

A fine-tuned exercise routine and a fine-tuned menu are essential, but there is one more crucial ingredient of a successful fitness program – motivation.

If you’ve ever tried exercising on your own, you might be familiar with the incredible power of your mind to come up with an excuse not to exercise. This is where good old peer pressure kicks in.

“Our goal is to create a community. I want a solid group of people who will stick together and help each other out. We will build friendships and a support network. When you train alone and you miss a session you can just wave your hand and forget about it, but if there are11 other people expecting you to perform, it’s more difficult to justify your absence,” explains Chris.

Both programs are eight-weeks long, but the idea is to stop the members from going back to their own habits and keep them moving forward.

“We want to create something more sustainable that will last, and this is why an educational element will be introduced. The idea is not to have people go back to their old ways the moment they get out of the program, and then sign up for another one again.”

To achieve that, the session we will include short lessons on how to transform one’s lifestyle and make the change sustainable.

To run their new program, Thanyapura is preparing a brand new, fully-equipped room. And Chris promises that when you leave this room eight-weeks later, you’ll feel a dramatic increase in fitness, a dramatic increase in strength and an improvement of posture. And you will never look back.
