Hooper Trips Asia – Inle Lake Sunset | The Thaiger

PHUKET: The Phuket Gazette has been a rock and a large part of documenting the island’s news and culture for many years.

I have been an avid reader since the day I arrived in Phuket 13 years ago. I am so honored to have finally been a tiny part of it as it takes it’s final bow. So many of the greatest local characters have graced its pages.

I am proud to have been able to share a few of my travels and photos with those who have happened upon my feature here. I wish all those involved with the Gazette great things in the future, and a very special thanks to John Magee, who has helmed this great paper with such passion from the very beginning, for giving me the chance to contribute in the smallest way.

I will continue to share my photos and musings with those who are interested, and I have some very big things lined up for the future; for details about where to find them please head here and give it a like for more information.

I thought it fitting to share this last sunset that I thought was a very special one as I watched it sink over Inle Lake in Central Myanmar.

Good luck to you all and see you around.

Phuket’s nightlife. Yes, bars and clubs are still open | VIDEO | The Thaiger

There was the original Covid-19 outbreak and lockdowns back in April and May in 2020, then again just before Christmas and New Year when the new clusters emerged in Samut Sakhon and the eastern coastal provinces, Patong’s nightlife was quiet enough, almost non-existent.

Now when the restrictions are lifted, Nimz will take you through Phuket’s famous nightlife spot Bangla Road, Patong Beach and Phuket Town. It’s quiet, but there are still clubs open and operating and ready to welcome you.

Phuket Thai food treats you need to try | VIDEO | The Thaiger

Nimz, our new Thaiger Vlogger takes you on a tour of some uniquely Phuket foods, although you may find them in other provinces these days as well. A lot of southern Thai food can be very spicy and features a lot of seafood, but Nimz went for the ‘less’ spicy (mai phet) options.

Tell us about your favourite Thai treats and if you’d tried something special in Phuket.

In search of Cat & Dog Cafés in Phuket Town | VIDEO | The Thaiger

Nimz, our Thaiger Vlogger takes you on a weekend tour of Phuket Town, in search of cat and dog cafés. Stroke the cats, tickle the cat’s tummy, pat the cats, take selfies with the cats. Whilst Phuket has a number of registered cat and dog cafés, only one appeared to open during Nimz’s search through the streets of Phuket Town, the main commercial capital of the island (on the opposite side of the island to Patong).

And. yes, they also serve up some great food too.
