Man feared drowned near iconic Phuket cape, found safe, drunk
PHUKET: Fears that a second man within a week had slipped to his death from the rocks at Phuket’s iconic Promthep Cape were dispelled late last night after the man was found alive – and drunk – nearly three hours later.
Teerawat Prasomsub, 25, was reported missing by his family, visiting Phuket from Ranong.
“The family said that they went to the end of the cape to pose for photos. When they returned after sunset, he was no longer with them. They couldn’t find him and were very concerned that he might have fallen into the sea,” Rawai Mayor Aroon Solos told the Phuket Gazette this morning.
“We launched a search for Mr Teerawat after his family reported him as missing at 7:30pm.”
A search team found Mr Teerawat at about 10pm.
“Fortunately, he was safe,” said Mayor Aroon.
“He was on the rocks near where they posed for photos – he was still drunk.”
Fears that Mr Teerawat had fallen into the sea follow Somchai Yungtala, 30, being swept from the rocks near Promthep Cape on Tuesday afternoon (story here).
