Ya bah crackdown nets seven in two days

CHALONG: Officers from Chalong Police Station on Thursday and Friday made seven separate arrests on charges related to ya bah (methamphetamine). More than 500 pills of the drug were seized. The arrests came after Pol Col Sati Malakanond, superintendent at Chalong Police Station, ordered officers to make a special effort to crack down on drugs in the area. Of the three women and four men arrested, all aged between 21 and 27 years old, three were charged with possession of ya bah while the other four were charged with possession and selling the drug. One person was caught in possession of 364 pills. At the other end of the scale, one woman was arrested after just half of a ya-bah pill was found hidden in her bra. “Most of the arrests were made after we were tipped off. Other arrests were made because officers said the people looked suspicious or were scared of officers in uniform at checkpoints,” said Col Sati.
