Tourism road show wins buyers

PHUKET: A “Southern Paradise” tourism road show to Singapore and Malaysia was so successful that the Phuket Tourism Association (PTA) has decided to do another, to the Middle East. Panu Masirat, Vice-President of Marketing for the PTA, told the Gazette that the attractions of spas and Thai massage proved very appealing to people in both countries. There were 25 booths in the show, from August 13 to 17, and more than 100 tour agencies and industry buyers turned out to see what Southern Thailand had to offer, K. Panu said. “They wanted to see more,” he added. The PTA plans another next road show soon to include countries such as Oman and the UAE. Hanchai Chantarachota, Chairman of the Tourism Committee of the Phuket Provincial Administration Organization, told the Gazette that the road shows promoted tourism to the island and deserved support.
