Still time to register mobile phones

PHUKET: The deadline for registration of mobile phones using prepaid cards is officially over, but the Minister of Information and Communication Technology (ICT), Sora-at Klinprathum, has announced on the Ministry’s website that phone users may still register at network service centers, by bringing their phones and ID card or passport with them.

Some 80% of Thailand’s 400,000 prepaid SIM card users have registered so far, as part of the government’s attempts to stop bombings in the south of Thailand being triggered by mobile phones.

AIS users may register at the Telewiz shop on Luang Phor Rd, and DTAC users at the DTAC shops on Thalang Rd or Mae Luan Rd. Both types, along with Orange phones, may also be registered on the ground floor of Big C.

For further inquiries call Telewiz at Tel: 076-232505-7; DTAC (Thalang Rd) at Tel: 076-233700-1; DTAC (Mae Luan Rd) at Tel: 076-234392-3; and Orange (Big C) at Tel: 076-249267.
