Heartthrob DJ shot through the heart
PHUKET CITY: Sombat Aremsamkok, 25, a popular DJ renowned for his good looks, died after being shot in the heart at point blank range at 4:30 am January 26.
Pol Lt Sathit Noovicht of Phuket City Police Station said that K. Sombat was shot in the back at Takrai restaurant, where he worked as a DJ, in Phun Pol Night Plaza.
The bullet passed through his heart and exited from the left side of his chest.
Two friends drove him to Vachira Phuket Hospital on a motorbike, but he died on the way, Lt Sathit said.
He added that two dark-skinned, Southern-Thai-looking men with long hair came to the restaurant on a Honda Wave motorcycle and sat down for a drink before shooting K. Sombat.
None of the staff at the restaurant recognized the men, aged 20 to 25, and police believe they are not Phuket residents.
Although yet to receive ballistics reports, police believe the weapon used was .38 caliber and may have been a homemade “pen gun”, Lt Sathit said.
K. Sombat, from Nakhon Sawan Province, had worked as a DJ in a number of provinces in the South. He had been working at Takrai for almost a year and was a good worker and had never been in any trouble, Lt Sathit said.
“The victim was a good looking guy and had many ladies around him. We believe this may have provided the motive for his killing,” he added.
