Burmese body found in locked room

PHUKET TOWN: A 37-year-old Burmese fish factory worker was found stabbed to death and locked in his room on Thursday morning. Pol Lt Parichat Chaturonpan, from Phuket Town Police Station, named the victim as “Leesaw” and said a neighbor and co-worker of Leesaw called the police at about 10 am after he had failed to turn up for work. Officers arrived at Leesaw’s room at a labor camp near Por Pichat fishing port on Si Sena Rd and found the door padlocked from the outside. After breaking into the room, officers found Leesaw lying on his back. He had been stabbed in the chin and the left side of his chest with a sharp object. Officers believe he had died at least two hours before they arrived. Lt Parichat said, “The person who called us lives near the victim’s room and works at the same factory. The man was concerned something had happened to Leesaw after he failed to turn up for work because he saw Leesaw in his room just the night before. “We have asked workers who live in the camp what happened, but everybody said that they knew nothing. “We believe the victim was killed by a person he knew. They argued in the room and then the murderer killed him and escaped after locking the door,” said Lt Parichat. Leesaw’s body was taken to Wachira Phuket Hospital for autopsy.
