Global hospitality group Melia Hotels International has signed a new 101 villa luxury property in Mai Khao, Phuket.

The developer of the property is the Phuket Villa Group. Each of the hotel villas feature private pools.

Slated for 2021, the group will enter the Phuket market with an exclusive luxury resort on the idealic Mai Khao beach, at the north end of the island.

Meliá Hotels International has announced the addition of Meliá Phuket Mai Khao to its Thailand portfolio, marking its entrance into the country’s largest island and most popular beach destination.

Meliá Phuket Mai Khao will be the group’s fifth property in Thailand, continuing their dedication to providing exceptional Spanish hospitality to this thriving market.

Due to open in 2021, the new Meliá Phuket Mai Khao is owned by Phuket Villa Group, Thailand’s leading residential property development company. The new addition will further establish Meliá Hotels International in the country.

Meliá Phuket Mai Khao lies in the tranquil north of Phuket, ideally situated alongside the clear waters of the sun-drenched beach known for the tropical reef clusters just offshore. Overlooking the picturesque pure-white sand beach and turquoise Andaman sea, the property holds a prime location that is within close proximity to Phuket International Airport, the third busiest airport in Thailand. In addition, iconic attractions including Sirinat National Park, Royal Phuket Marina and Lahm Him Pier can be easily accessed, allowing travellers to indulge in nature and sightseeing.

Crafting an exclusive resort experience for discerning travellers, Meliá Phuket Mai Khao will boast 101 private villas, with each residence boasting a private pool and well-appointed amenities. Adhering to traditional Thai architecture, Meliá Phuket Mai Khao will feature lush courtyards, spacious public areas and neutral schemed interior with contemporary décor, along with hues of burlywood and fresh blue to make it a soothing sanctuary, resonating with the wellness focus of the Meliá Hotels & Resorts brand.

Bernado Cabot Estarellas, Senior Vice President Asia Pacific of Meliá Hotels International, says, “It is absolutely thrilling news that we are expanding the Meliá Hotels & Resorts brand in Thailand and particularly in Phuket. Tourism continues to be a driving force for the Phuket economy and we are well positioned to bring our extensive experience in the resort segment to one of the most desired destinations in Asia.

“Partnering with Phuket Villa Group, with whom we share a similar ethos and passion, will assist in our plans to achieve robust and sustainable growth in the area whilst delivering an unparalleled resort experience in order to meet seasoned guests’ desires.”

With 48 properties in seven countries across Asia, both in operation and in the pipeline, Meliá Hotels International continues to put a focus on robust momentum and growth for the APAC region.
