Water supply projects completed
PHUKET: Two new mains water projects by the Phuket Provincial Waterworks Department (PPWD) are now in operation, and the authority is nearing completion of three additional supply lines as part of its fiscal 2004 budget. Speaking at the Governor’s monthly press conference at the Phuket Provincial Health Office yesterday, PPWD chief Sayun Vareearoonrod said residents could now apply for hook-up and meters in the two areas where construction has been completed: – From Chid Chiow village north to Sapam Municipal School: This pipeline supplies water to areas north of Yaowarat Rd, between Thepkrasatri Rd and the bypass road. The main line starts near Big C, runs along the bypass road, past Tesco-Lotus and Soi Paniang and intersects Thepkrasattri Rd near the Provincial Electricity Authority substation. From there it runs north past Supercheap, ending near Sapam Municipal School. – From the Vanich Estate (near the Workor Intersection) south to Leam Tokkae: This pipeline supplies water to areas in Tambon Rassada, including those close to Rassadanusorn Rd, Kuku Village School, Rassada Tambon Administration Organization offices, Soi Ta Chin, Soi Kingkaew, Honsaitong Community Center, Srisuthat Rd, Koh Sireh Circle, and the road to Pleumsook Beach. Three additional main lines are still under construction: – Along Thepkrasattri Rd From the Phuket Highway sub-district office near Laem Hin Pier to the Vanich Estate. The project is about 60 % complete and is expected to come into service in about a month. – From Phuket Villa 2 south to the Rawai Tambon Administration Organization offices: The pipeline will serve areas along Chao Fa West Rd south of the Thep-Anusorn Rd intersection, south to Chalong Circle and Chalong Pier, and extending further south along Wiset Rd to the OrBorTor Rawai offices. Work is reported as 80% complete. – Along Sakdidet Rd from ThaiSarco to Cape Panwa Viewpoint. This pipeline will cover areas near Baan Panwa School, Soi Khaokad and South Sea Farm. Work is reported as 80% complete.
