Rajabhat student stabbed
RASSADA: A first-year student at Phuket Rajabhat University was seriously wounded after being stabbed repeatedly by her boyfriend at her rented room in tambon Rassada on November 28, Phuket City Police Duty Inspector Lt Col Adul Nirapai told the Gazette.
At about 10 pm, Sujitra Chatavee, a native of Phang Nga Province, was stabbed repeatedly by her boyfriend with a small knife. K. Sujitra was taken to Mission Hospital Phuket, where she is now listed in stable condition, said Col Adul.
Col Adul identified the boyfriend only as “Thawatchai”.
Although he was unable to confirm the exact number of wounds the girl sustained, one Thai-language newspaper reported that she was left in critical condition after suffering nine wounds, seven to the arms and hands and two to the abdomen.
The couple had been arguing before K. Sujitra was stabbed, said Col Adul, who cited “jealousy” as a possible motive for the attack.
“We have been unable to question the victim much because she is still in hospital, but she told us where Thavatchai lives in Phang Nga. He will be arrested shortly,” said Col Adul, declining to reveal further details.
