Phuket yacht enthusiast ‘Boo’ dies
PHUKET: Local yachting enthusiast Boo Meesuk died this morning in Malaysia after falling ill while delivering a yacht to Phuket.
Boo had been in a coma for more than two and a half weeks at a hospital in Terengganu.
In a statement to members of the Ao Chalong Yacht Club (ACYC), Mick Kealy said, “It is with deep regret that I must inform you all that at 10:00am local time today one of South East Asia’s finest sailors passed away.
“Boo’s condition deteriorated until he moved on. Naturally, his good friend Chandran was there as he has been for the last three weeks.
“Boo’s brother and Mark Pescott are flying down this afternoon to assist with the details.”
A previously planned fundraiser on Boo’s behalf will go ahead as scheduled.
Tomorrow ACYC will host the event, open to all, to help cover hospital and funeral costs.
There will be 50 baht Tiger beers, a raffle at 7:30pm and a donation box.
If you would like to donate a raffle prize or cannot attend but would like to make a monetary donation, please email Mick Kealy: mick@octopusasia.com.
