Phuket woman stabs boyfriend, takes him to hospital
PHUKET: Police charged a Phuket woman with assault for stabbing her boyfriend last night. However, they are allowing her to stay in the hospital to care for him.
Emergency room staff at Patong Hospital notified police at about 8pm that a man had been admitted with stab wounds.
When officers arrived, Adinan Na Phattalung, 54, was being treated for a wound to his chest. Wichutha Kongnakorn, his 34-year-old girlfriend and assailant, was beside his bed.
“Ms Wichutha confessed that she had stabbed him,” said Patong Police Deputy Superintendent Khunnadet Nanongkhai.
“She said that Mr Adinan often got drunk and attacked her.”
Mr Adinan had come home from drinking with friends and asked her for money yesterday evening, Ms Wichutha told police. She didn’t have any, so he slapped her in the face and attacked her.
“Then she saw a knife on a table, grabbed it and stabbed him in the chest,” said Col Khunnadet.
After the stabbing, Ms Wichutha took Mr Adinan to the hospital with the knife still protruding from his body.
“We have charged her with assault, but allowed her to stay in the hospital to care for her boyfriend. We plan to question him later and determine whether he wants to file an attempted murder charge,” said Col Khunnadet.
“Ms Wichutha told us she didn’t want to press charges for Mr Adinan’s alleged attack on her.”
