Phuket resort looks to bring to heel Kata Noi taxi rank
PHUKET: Reform for the 60-vehicle taxi rank operating at the Katathani Phuket Beach Resort is on the horizon, said Katathani President and CEO Sombut Atiset yesterday.
The hotel is working together with the Karon Municipality and Karon Police to establish a balance where everyone can “live together”, explained Mr Sombut.
“We are working with the Kata Noi Taxi Service, and might get results within the next week,” he said.
The price structure at the taxi rank will follow the standard prices established by the Phuket Land Transportation Office (story here).
“The important thing is that the drivers wear a standard uniform, are well groomed and are polite to their guests,” Mr Sombut said.
“If the Kata Noi Taxi Service project is a success, it will be the model for similar operations in Karon,” he added.
The move to organize the taxi rank in Kata Noi comes as the island-wide December 31 deadline looms for all taxi ranks to register with police (story here).
