Phuket charity drive cooks up a family-fun entertainment extravaganza

PHUKET: Tomorrow, Saturday January 26, the Royal Phuket Marina will be the place to be in Phuket for fabulous food, fun and games for the kids and superb live music.

The first-of-its-kind Phuket Family & Gourmet Festival, a charity event, is being staged by Jagota Foods to raise valuable funds for the Andaman region’s less fortunate kids.

From 10:30am to 5pm, parents and kids can enjoy fun-packed kids’ rides, games and activities and a huge selection of fabulous food stations manned by Phuket’s best chefs.

Admission is 100 baht for adults, for which you receive 100 baht’s worth of redeemable vouchers, and all the kids get in for free. Phuket’s teenage sensations “The Legends of Siam” will also take to the stage in the afternoon with a little help from their friends.

Starting at 6pm and running late into the night, a hot-rocking musical concert will kick off with alternative Thai band “Moderndog” before Australian blues band “Vdelli” play Phuket for the first time. Rumor has it that an international star or two may also get on stage.

More gourmet food from the assembled chefs will accompany the music far into the evening and this section of the event will cost 900 baht, including one free drink, or 3,000 baht for VIP tickets, which include unlimited food and drink.

The cuisine will feature a wide selection of fresh oysters, cold cuts and cheese, barbecued treats, a selection of Thai dishes, hot dogs, sausages, Lady Pie pies, kebabs and wraps, and desserts of bakery and crepes, ice cream and candy cup cakes. All this will be prepared and served by many of Phuket’s top chefs, who will be on hand throughout the event.

The day will undoubtedly be one of the top events on the Phuket calendar for 2013 – and all this is being done to raise funds for some of the most important kids’charities, orphanages and institutions in the Andaman region.

This event is proudly sponsored by the Phuket Gazette and PGTV. Segments of the event will appear on the Gazette‘s ‘Phuket Today’ show, the island’s only national television program, eight times a week on UBC/True Visions (channels 58 and 99).

Tickets can be reserved at 082-7905141, 083-182 8460 (English) and 076-273 555 (Thai) and will also be on sale at the gate.
