Phuket FC stun Nakhon Sri Thammarat, 2-1
PHUKET CITY: Two goals and a vastly improved defensive performance gave Phuket FC a surprise 2-1 road win at fourth-place Nakhon Sri Thammarat yesterday.
The victory brought to an end a dismal run of 10 losses for the Sea Dragons.
Failure to score the vital second goal has been to blame for the poor run, but a brace by African player Tony ended the drought, giving the Sea Dragons their first victory since a 1-0 win at Krabi in April.
The tally was also only the second time this season the Sea Dragons have scored more than one goal in a match.
The Sea Dragons have now accumulated eight points on the road, but have yet to register a point at home, losing six of six.
The win moves them into a tie for last place with Phattalung, who played to a scoreless draw with Yala on Saturday.
In other Division 2 South matches played over the weekend, Pattani pounded Krabi 4-0 and first-place Narathiwat kept their unbeaten season intact with a 1-1 draw on the road at Satun.
Performances under coach Somsak had steadily improved, although Phuket still failed to win at Surakul Stadium under his tutelage.
Phuket FC’s next match is on August 15 against Krabi at Surakul Stadium, Phuket. Kick-off at 7pm.
