The film, simply entitled Phuket, stars a well-known Korean movie star, Im Soo Jung, and Thai actor Sorapong Chatree.
Phuket will be previewed at the Pusan International Film Festival 2009 next month and screened on board airlines, including THAI and Korean.
The film’s director, Aditya Assarat, said Phuket was a love story in which
Im Soo Jung, who narrates the tale, sees her character seek to escape the chaos, lack of privacy and problems of getting married in Korea.
Sorapong is the hotel driver who takes her on a tour of the places in Phuket most dear to his heart.
The film is sponsored by the Government Lottery Office and Thai Tobacco Monopoly through the Phuket Tourist Association (PTA).
PTA president Somboon Jirayus said he hoped the use of a famous Korean actress would increase the number of Korean visitors to Phuket.
Last year 138,292 Korean tourists visited Phuket, putting them among the top five nationalities visiting the island.
