Medium found hanged in monk’s hut

PHUKET TOWN: The body of a medium, who used to give people numbers for upcoming illegal lotteries, was discovered hanging in an abandoned monk’s hut behind Wat Lang San on Damrong Rd on Sunday. Pol Capt Pin Inmark, of Phuket Town Police Station, told the Gazette that the man, who had been identified as 41-year-old Boonroat Suwandee, had been dead for at least eight hours when he was discovered around 10 am. He was found hanging by a red loincloth that had been tied to a beam. He was wearing a white shirt and white pants, and had strings of beads around his neck and both wrists. A piece of paper was found on the floor of the hut. On it was written, “Dharma is in our hands.” Local residents told Pol Capt Pin that Boonroat was a medium. But, they added, nobody had paid him much attention over the past couple of months because he had been acting increasingly strangely. Pol Capt Pin said that the evidence gathered at the scene, along with the local villagers’ testimony, suggested that Boonroat had mental problems and had hanged himself. Boonroat’s body was handed over today to the Kusornlatham Foundation for cremation.
