“Long Live The King’ wristbands go on sale

PHUKET: The King Power Foundation, Siam Commercial Bank, the Thailand Post and the Thai Military Bank are producing “Long Live The King” silicon wristbands and accompanying greetings cards to mark the 60th anniversary of HM King Bhumibol’s accession to the throne.

Last year, the King Power Foundation manufactured 1 million similar wristbands, sales of which raised 105 million baht for His Majesty’s royal charities.

The royal yellow silicon wristbands will cost 100 baht each and will feature the words, “We Love the King” in Thai and “Long Live the King” in English. On the inside of the wristband is written, “In commemoration of 60 years reign, long live the King” in Thai as well as the auspicious number 9.

Greetings cards are included with the sale of every wristband, to be used to convey best wishes to His Majesty.

The chief of Phuket Post Office, Wisarn Pongtiwatanakul, told the Gazette, “We have about 56,000 wristbands at Phuket Post Office at the moment and they are also available at the King Power Duty Free Shop, Siam Commercial Banks and Thai Military Banks. They will be on sale until May 31.”
