Huge increase in visa fees next year
PHUKET: Starting January 1 next year, visa fees across the board will be increased dramatically, the Immigration Bureau in Bangkok confirmed today. The new visa fees will be: • Transit visa, single entry, 800 baht (currently 200 baht). • Tourist visa, single entry, 1,000 baht (currently 300 baht). • Non-immigrant visa, single entry, 2,000 baht (500 baht). • Non-immigrant visa, multiple entry, 5,000 baht (1,000 baht) • Application for visa extension, 1,900 baht (500 baht). • Application for a single re-entry permit, 1,000 baht (500 baht). • Application for a multiple re-entry permit, 3,800 baht (1,000 baht). • Application for a residence permit, 7,600 baht (2,000 baht). • Residence permit (payable on receipt of residence book), 191,400 baht (50,000 baht). • Residence permit (payable on receipt of residence book) for a foreigner married to a Thai, the spouse of a resident, and any of their unmarried children younger than 20 years old, 95,700 baht (25,000 baht). The 30-day visa-on-arrival, which is free-of-charge, is still available for passport holders of the following countries/territories: Austria, Australia, Belgium, Brazil, Bahrain, Brunei, Canada, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Japan, South Korea, Kuwait, Luxembourg, Malaysia, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Peru, the Philippines, Portugal, Singapore, Spain, South Africa, Sweden, Switzerland, Turkey, UAE, UK, USA, Vietnam and Qatar. No increases have yet been announced to the minimum income long-stay visitors must have, nor to the minimum they must have in a Thai bank.
