German fugitive arrested

PATTAYA (AFP): A German fugitive wanted on sex procurement charges in his home country faces deportation from Thailand after his arrest at a seaside resort today. Oliver Jürgen Hesse, 33, was arrested at his condominium in Pattaya after Thai police acted on an international warrant issued in Berlin, police said. Pol Lt Gen Chat Kuldilok said Hesse and his Thai wife had lured Thai women to Berlin by promising them employment, and then forced them into the sex trade. Hesse, who had been working as an engineer in Thailand’s Rayong province since 1996, would probably be extradited to Germany, Gen Chat added.
