PHUKET: This week’s Weird World News roundup is about going the distance from the human body-part packages of a porn star to an inspirational dog in China, and the American face-eater who simply went too far.

Magnotta’s long distance body-part packages discovered

Canadian bisexual porn star, kitten mutilator and suspected human body-part packager, Luka Rocco Magnotta, may have fled North America, BBC reported last week.

Mr Magnotta, who is suspected of posting the body parts of his gruesomely murdered partner to political party offices in Ottawa, has been added to Interpol’s wanted list.

A suitcase with the torso of an Asian man in his 30s, whose name has yet to be released, was found on Tuesday, Montreal police Commander Ian Lafreniere said.

The same day, a foot believed to have been cut from the dead man was found to have already gone the distance, as it arrived by mail to the Conservative Party headquarters in Ottawa.

A hand was found in the postal warehouse in the same city, The Mirror reported.

A video posted on Bestgore.com shows the grizzly murder taking place, according to National Post.

The suspect, Mr Magnotta, also goes by the names of Eric Clinton Newman and Vladimir Romanov, investigators said.

Mr Magnotta gained notoriety on the internet in 2010, after a video surfaced allegedly showing Mr Magnotta placing two kittens in a plastic bag and then vacuuming the air out, suffocating them.

Two more videos, also depicting the torture and killing of cats have been linked to Mr Magnotta, reported the Edmonton Journal.

The fridge in Mr Magnotta’s apartment appeared to have held body parts that dripped blood to the bottom shelf and was taken out for cleaning, said Mike Nadeau, the janitor that discovered the maggot-covered suitcase.

“For most of the officers that were there all night long, this is the kind of crime scene they’ve never seen in their career,” Cdr Lafreniere told the Associated Press.

American face-eater goes too far…

Although the story has been smeared all of the world like chocolate pudding on a baby’s face, we can’t forget Rudy Eugene the American face-eater in this week’s gruesome roundup.

The naked Mr Eugene, 31, was shot dead in broad daylight by Miami police when he refused to stop eating a man’s face even after being wounded, reported The New York Post.

“The guy was like a zombie. It was intense. He was tearing the other man to pieces with his mouth,” Larry Vega, a witness, said.

Speaking to to WSVN-TV, Mr Vega described the scene after police told Mr Eugene to step away from the victim. “The guy just stood… with pieces of flesh in his mouth and he growled.”

Doctors believe Mr Eugene was high on “bath salts”, which contain the party drug mephedrone and can have effects similar to the hallucinogen LSD, reported The Mirror.

“It can make users go completely insane,” one of the officers added.

Stray dog pounds out the kilometers during cycling race

In a week of horrific headlines – the gut thrower was not included – a little stray dog has inspired cyclists around the world as it completed a 1,700km journey across China, after joining a cycling race from Sichuan province to Tibet, reported BBC.

On May 4, Xiao Yong with his cyclist friends came across a white stray dog that was basking in the sun. They threw a chicken leg to the dog, and to their surprise the homeless animal didn’t leave their side for the next 20 days of their journey, reported WFAA-TV.

“At first we didn’t consider keeping it and thought he just wanted to follow us for a while. But it showed very strong willpower and followed us all the way,” said Mr Yong.

The dog, nicknamed “Xiaosa”, never fell behind during the 20-day journey. In fact, she reportedly would put her paws on her new master’s leg as if encouraging him to push on.

Mr Yong said there were about 300 cyclists on the highway for the event, but most of them ended up having to bus the last half of the ride. However, Xiaosa along with three of the cyclists made it all the way.

“The dog is very important to us. It brought us a lot of fun and also gave us a lot of encouragement. For example, if some of us fell behind, it would run down the mountain and call us to follow. It really gave us great strength,” said Lu Bo, one of the cyclists.

Mr Yong has a blog named “GOGO”, which documents the dog’s journey with the cycling team.
