A father from Rawai has brought his grievance to the public after his six year old son suffered a violent assault by classmates at Wat Sawang Arom School, and an agreed compensation has not been honoured.

The incident occurred on August 18 when the 32 year old father reported to Chalong Police that his son had been tied up, stripped, and assaulted by two to three girls. They tied the boy’s hands, removed his shirt, pulled his pants down to his ankles, and struck him with rubber sandals on his back, body, and head, causing injuries.

A video of the assault, seemingly recorded by one of the assailants, showed one girl repeatedly hitting the boy on the head, back, and stomach with her rubber sandal. The attack began with the girl shoving the boy over by raising her foot to his face and continued with her striking him as hard as she could.

“The video clearly shows malice, despite the young age of the girls involved,” the father stated.

Following the father’s complaint, Police Lieutenant Colonel Charas Lempan, an investigation officer at Chalong Police Station, arranged a meeting on August 23 between the father and the involved parties. The investigation revealed that the girls involved in the incident included an 11 year old.

The guardians of the girls agreed to pay damages totalling 10,000 baht (US$310) to the father. The arrangement stipulated that the payments would be split, with the first payment due on August 31 and the second on September 15. In return, the father agreed to waive any further legal action if the compensation was fully paid, reported The Phuket News.

However, the father claims that the payments were not made as promised. Frustrated by the lack of action, he has now turned to the media to bring attention to the case and seek justice for his son.
