Man kills 25 seagulls by driving Jeep on Washington beach

Jeep driver kills 25 seagulls, nearly hits two people on Washington beach

A man has deliberately killed a flock of 25 seagulls by running them over with his Jeep Cherokee. Authorities reported that he almost hit two people and their dogs during the incident.

Last Saturday around 8 p.m., the suspect drove his silver four-door Jeep Cherokee about 1.7 miles south of the Klipsan Beach approach near Long Beach in Pacific County, Washington. This location is roughly 180 miles southwest of Seattle, as stated by the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife Police.

Officials noted that the same Jeep nearly hit two individuals walking their dogs on the beach. Multiple witnesses, including three who stopped the vehicle and took photographs of it and the driver, came forward.

Most of the seagulls were killed instantly. Efforts to save the few injured birds were unsuccessful.

The Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife Police credited community members with helping identify the driver. Officers are now attempting to contact the man, believed to be living out of state.

Seagulls in Washington are protected by law, making it illegal to hunt or fish them.

Authorities are seeking additional witnesses and have requested that anyone with information about the suspect or vehicle contact the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife Police at (877) 933-9847.
