Malaysia PM to clarify Haj selection criteria, HPV vaccine status
The classification criteria for the B40, M40, and T20 groups in selecting Haj pilgrims for the 1444H season, as well as the number of individuals to receive offers this year, are expected to be discussed during today’s Dewan Rakyat session. Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim will address these concerns during the Minister’s Question Time, responding to questions from Abdul Latiff Abdul Rahman of Kuala Krai.
In the same session, Yeo Bee Yin of Puchong is set to query the Health Minister regarding the status of the HPV vaccination programme for over 500,000 girls who missed their injections between 2020 and 2022. The acquisition of the HPV vaccine, with an allocation of RM120 million for 2023, will also be discussed.
Azli Yusof of Shah Alam will raise questions about whether the Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Ministry permits subsidised cooking oil packets to be resold as used cooking oil to the bio-diesel industry, given the high demand for used cooking oil as biofuel in the air transport sector.
During the question and answer session, Ikmal Hisham Abdul Aziz of Tanah Merah will ask the Defence Minister about the timeline for the restarted LCS 1 project and whether the ship’s construction can be completed as planned for commissioning by the Royal Malaysian Navy in 2026.
Datuk Shamshulkahar Mohd Deli of Jempol will question the Communications and Digital Minister on the decision to end Digital Nasional Berhad’s monopoly in providing 5G networks by allowing a 5G dual network model through a new entity.
Following the question and answer session, the Dewan Rakyat session will proceed with the debate on the Malaysia Cooperative Societies Commission (Amendment) Bill 2023. The current Dewan Rakyat sitting is scheduled to continue until June 15.
