Search continues for missing Indian tourist at Karon Beach

A search is continuing for an Indian man who has been missing in the seas off Karon Beach since yesterday (July 25).

Karon Police were notified at 5pm yesterday that a tourist was missing. Another Indian man had already been taken to hospital after being pulled from the sea.

Karon Municipality is reporting that yesterday, lifeguards rescued one Indian tourist from the strong surf but another Indian tourist remains missing, Both ignored red flags along the shoreline in the area they were swimming.

The missing man is 33 year old Gaurav Mann from Haryana.

Mr Mann went into the water about 4.30pm with his Indian friends for about 30 minutes. A big wave hit him and he disappeared under the surf. A search was immediately launched.

Royal Thai Navy officers are continuing the search for Mr Mann today but they have been battling strong winds and waves along the Karon coast.
