Phuket motorcyclist survives slide under chicken truck

PHUKET: A motorcyclist riding the wrong way on Thepkrasattri Road ended up under a pickup loaded with fresh chicken meat last night, bruised and scratched but without major injuries.

Wang Promma, 38, was riding his motorcycle north in the southbound section of Thepkrasattri Road, about 500 meters north of the Heroines Monument (map here), said Capt Narong Muangdoung of the Thalang Police.

At the same time, Winai Srimoung, 19, was driving southbound from Phang Nga to deliver chicken meat to his customers in Phuket Town.

“When the pickup reached the Sri Supphaluck Orchid cashew nut shop, the motorcyclist suddenly crossed in front of him to get to the u-turn,” said Capt Narong.

The motorcyclist was thrown off his bike and slid under the pickup, he added.

“The pickup truck was not fitted with license plates. We have seized Mr Winai’s driver’s license and are continuing our investigation,” said Capt Narong.
