Free tickets for Fed Cup tennis

PATONG: Free tickets are available for the April 23 and 24 showdown between Thailand and Croatia in Group 2 play of the Federation Cup (Fed Cup) tennis tournament, the woman’s equivalent of the Davis Cup.
The Thai team of Tamarine Tanasugarn, Suchanun Viratprasert, Napaporn Tongsalee and Montinee Tangphong arrived in Phuket yesterday morning and went straight to Patong to examine the 4,000-seat stadium, which has been set up along the beach road specifically for the event.
The Thais will take on a Croatian team that arrived in Phuket yesterday and will be without their No 1 player Karolina Sprem, who withdrew due to a viral infection.
She was replaced by Matea Mezak. The rest of the team are Croatia’s No 2 woman player, Jelena Kostanic, Sanda Mamic and Nina Ozegovic.
Free tickets are now available at the Kata Beach Resort (Tel: 076-330128), Phuket Orchid Resort (Tel: 076-396519-23) and at the Phuket Chamber of Commerce (Tel: 076-217567-8) on Montri Rd, opposite Seng Ho Bookstore in Phuket City.
A limited number of tickets are also available from the Phuket Gazette offices at 367/2 Yaowarat Rd, Phuket City.
