PHUKET: The official tally for dead and missing in and around Phuket as a result of yesterday’s tsunami now stands at 122 and 355 respectively, according to the Bureau of Emergency Medical Services System (Narenthorn Center) of the Ministry of Public Health.

A further 1,027 people are reported as injured, although one local private hospital confirmed that it alone had received 779 casualties.

Consular representatives from 28 nations are offering assistance and advice to their nationals at Provincial Hall, on Narisorn Rd in Phuket City. The Gazette is currently trying to ascertain which countries are represented and will publish the names and contact numbers as soon as they’re available.

The British Embassy has set up a temporary office at The Courtyard on Chao Fa West Rd, 2.4 kilometers south of Central Festival on the bypass road. Contact numbers for the center are 076-264473 and 076-264474. British consular officials are also at Provincial Hall.

The Narenthorn Center has set up a website, for people wishing to find details of relatives or friends. The username is: user. The password is: password.
