Chalong cooks up Phuket favorites at annual food fair
PHUKET: The annual “Chalong Food and Entertainment Festival” kicked off last night opposite Wat Ladthiwanaram (Wat Tai) on Chao Fa East Road.
The fair’s opening night boasted a cooking show, dance competition and concerts.
“I would like to personally invite everyone to attend the fair,” said Chalong Mayor Samran Jindaphol.
After a show from the Elderly Club and a grand opening ceremony, Mayor Samran launched into the festivities by cooking up some traditional Thai O-Taw for the crowd.
“You will see many kinds of food including traditional Thai food, seafood and local Phuket food. The foods offered at the fair will be delicious, and we guarantee they were all prepared hygenically,” he said.
The fair opens daily at 6pm and closes at midnight, and will continue until Sunday.
The schedule for the following days is as follows:
May 1
6:30pm – Aerobic dancing show
8:30pm – Onstage demonstration of how to cook Thai salad
9:30pm – Elderly club show
10pm – Concert from Wongklom R-Siam band
May 2
6:30pm – Dancing Doll show
9pm – Phuket youth band performance
10pm – Concert from Skypass R-Siam band
May 3
7pm – Elderly club show
10pm – Concert from Torpu R-Siam band
May 4
6pm – Fire performance; Bartender dancing competition
9pm – Award ceremony for the best shop decorations, best-dressed vendor and best food
10pm – Concert by Bao Wee R-Siam
Midnight – Official close
