Busy day for Cupid
PHUKET: Valentine’s Day has been especially romantic for 231 Phuket couples – they got married today.
Sirinee Leelanont, chief administrator of Phuket Town District Office said 159 couples registered their marriages today between 8am and 4pm, 19 more than during the same period last year.
“The atmosphere today was very happy, every couple was smiling,” said Palad Sirinee. “Some brides were pregnant, some couples brought their children with them, and some couples had just come from their wedding party.”
In Kathu District, 36 couples registered their marriages today, 20 more than last year’s 16, and in Thalang, 36 couples married, compared to 32 last year.
All couples who registered their marriages today received a gift from the district office where they registered it. Gifts included voichesr for meals or accommodation, and electric household goods.
