American man found dead in Phuket

PHUKET: An American man was found dead in his rented home in Phuket’s Paklok subdistrict late yesterday afternoon.

Thalang Police duty officer Pratiwat Yodkhwan identified the deceased as 51-year-old Albert Alletzhauser, originally from New York.

Mr Alletzhauser’s body was discovered by his wife after someone at his daughter’s school called to ask why nobody had come to pick up their daughter.

When calls to the home and Mr Alletzhauser’s mobile phone went unanswered, the wife rushed home to find his body lying face up in the bathroom of their home in the upscale Cape Heights housing estate at Cape Yamu.

Mr Alletzhauser’s wife, young daughter and friends watched in tears as Kusoldharm Foundation workers prepared the body for transport to Thalang Hospital for examination.

Lt Pratiwat Yodkhwan said initial questioning revealed that Mr Alletzhauser suffered from a heart condition and that medication to treat the ailment was found inside the house.

Mr Alletzhauser did not live in Thailand full-time but came to visit his wife and daughter regularly, he added.
