Wendy’s unveils real-life Krabby Patty from Spongebob Squarepants

Spongebob Squarepants fans are in for a treat with the unveiling of a real-life version of an iconic part of the popular show. The Nickelodeon cartoon, featuring Spongebob voiced by Tom Kenny, follows the adventures of a sponge living in Bikini Bottom.

Spongebob works at the Krusty Krab restaurant, bringing his cheerful attitude to his role as a fry cook. This leads us to the show’s central element – the Krabby Patty. Though it seems like a simple burger, the Krabby Patty is envied by rival eatery The Chum Bucket.

Plankton, the copepod, will be thrilled to finally get his hands on one of these patties. He can then, presumably, try to reverse engineer it. So why is Plankton able to get a Krabby Patty now?

Wendy’s announced it will sell a real-life version of the burger as a special edition. Launching on October 8, it will feature a Krabby Patty Kollab Burger and a Pineapple Under the Sea Frosty, a nod to Spongebob’s home. The Krabby Patty’s recipe is a recurring joke in the series, and many shared their reactions online.

One person wrote: “How tf did Wendy’s get the secret formuler” while another joked: “What secret ingredient did they use in the sauce?” A third commented: “They’ll never get the real Krabby Patty formula.” Some were less impressed, with one saying: “That’s just a normal classic burger.”

Another reluctantly admitted they’d return to the show, saying: “Every time I think I’m done with Spongebob…they pull me back in! I give up…I’m getting some Krabby Patties…” Wendy’s revealed the burger’s ingredients online.

It contains ‘a quarter pound of Wendy’s fresh, never frozen beef, two slices of melty American cheese, crisp lettuce, tomato, pickle, onion, and a top-secret Krabby Kollab sauce on a toasted premium bun.’ Lindsay Radkoski, US Chief Marketing Officer for The Wendy’s Company, stated: “In a world of people cutting corners, Wendy’s is known for quality in everything we do – from our fresh, famous food to collaborations with brands that our fans love.

“So, it makes sense that two of the most iconic squares in pop culture are teaming up to bring a taste of this unique, limited-time experience to life for fans of all ages!”
