Israeli forces targeted central Beirut on Thursday, resulting in six deaths and seven injuries. Lebanese Prime Minister Najib Mikati reported that Israeli attacks have displaced approximately 1.2 million Lebanese citizens.

The Israeli strike followed the loss of eight Israeli soldiers during a ground incursion into Lebanon aimed at Hezbollah. Hezbollah confirmed the destruction of three Israeli Merkava tanks with rockets near Maroun El Ras.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, in a condolence video, stated, “We are at the height of a difficult war against Iran’s Axis of Evil, which wants to destroy us. This will not happen because we will stand together and with God’s help, we will win together.”

In the past 24 hours, at least 46 people in Lebanon have died due to air raids. Israel’s aggressive response comes after Iran launched 200 missiles at them on Tuesday, though most were intercepted.

Israel and its key ally, the US, have vowed to take action against Iran. However, President Joe Biden has advised Israel to use “proportional” force in dealing with the situation. Countries including Spain, Germany, and South Korea have urged their citizens to evacuate Lebanon and Israel due to the escalating conflict in the Middle East.
