Israel airstrikes hit key Houthi infrastructure in Yemen

Airstrikes follow Yemen missile targeting Ben Gurion Airport in Tel Aviv

Israel launched airstrikes on Sunday targeting crucial infrastructure of Iran-backed Houthis in Yemen. Captain David Avraham stated that a large-scale operation saw dozens of Air Force aircraft, including fighter jets, refuelling planes, and reconnaissance aircraft, attack military targets of the Houthi regime in the Ras Issa and Hodeida areas.

This assault followed the interception of a missile fired by Houthis from Yemen at Ben Gurion International Airport near Tel Aviv on Saturday. The Houthis announced that the missile attack coincided with Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu’s return after addressing the United Nations General Assembly.

Tensions in the Middle East have heightened following the Israeli Air Force’s targeted elimination of Iran-backed Hezbollah’s chief, Hassan Nasrallah, in Beirut. The Houthi group, also supported by Iran, expressed their mourning over Nasrallah’s death, identifying him as an ally against Israel.

On Sunday, Hezbollah confirmed the death of Nabil Kaouk, a notable leader within the Lebanese terrorist group, due to Israeli airstrikes. The airstrike in northeast Lebanon resulted in 11 fatalities. Israel remains active in its attacks on Hezbollah positions in Lebanon. Kaouk, who served as the deputy head of Hezbollah’s Central Council, was also a military commander in south Lebanon from 1995 to 2010.

Additionally, Israel reported a precise strike on a Hamas command-and-control center located in the Umm al-Fahm school in Beit Lahiya, northern Gaza, though no evidence was provided. The ongoing conflict has displaced around 90% of Gaza’s 2.3 million residents, forcing hundreds of thousands to find shelter in closed schools or makeshift tent camps.
