One of Wednesday’s blasts occurred near a funeral organised by Hezbollah for those killed the previous day, with the thousands of pagers exploding injuring many fighters.

A reporter in the southern suburbs of Beirut observed Hezbollah members urgently removing batteries from any remaining unexploded walkie-talkies and discarding the parts in metal barrels.

The Red Cross in Lebanon stated on X that it deployed 30 ambulance teams to respond to multiple explosions in various areas, including southern Lebanon and the Bekaa Valley.

Following the pager attacks, which briefly disrupted Hezbollah, the group retaliated on Wednesday by launching rockets at Israeli artillery positions. This marked the first strike against Israel since the blasts, heightening the risk of a broader conflict in the Middle East.
