Dave Bautista stuns fans with dramatic weight loss at film premiere

Bautista's 240lb transformation for 'The Killer's Game' wows fans at TIFF

Dave Bautista’s recent red carpet appearance has stunned fans due to his noticeable body transformation.

Before achieving fame in films like “Guardians of the Galaxy” (2014) and “Dune” (2021), Bautista had a successful WWE career. He began his wrestling journey in 1999 and joined the World Wrestling Federation (WWF) in 2000.

At 55, Bautista became a prominent figure in WWE’s main roster. He clinched the World Heavyweight Championship in 2005 and continued wrestling until he left WWE in 2010. However, he made several returns to the ring before retiring from wrestling in 2019.

During his wrestling days, Bautista weighed around 290lbs and even reached 370lbs at one point. His latest role as Joe Flood in “The Killer’s Game,” set to hit US cinemas on Friday, September 13, required a significant physical change.

The movie’s synopsis reveals: “Diagnosed with a terminal illness, top hitman Joe Flood decides to take matters into his own hands and take a hit out on himself. However, when the very men he hires also target his ex-girlfriend, he must fend off an army of assassins and win back the love of his life before it’s too late.”

To prepare for this role, Bautista underwent an intense diet over the past year, dropping to 240lbs. In an interview with Chris Van Vliet, Bautista shared, “I’m getting super trimmed, this is probably the lightest I’ve been since I was 19 years old. The heaviest I’ve ever been is 370lbs. When I started Deacon, I was about 325lbs. Throughout most of my wrestling career, I was about 290lbs. Now I’m about 240lbs.”

He added, “A year and a half ago for ‘Knock at the Cabin,’ I weighed 315lbs. That’s when the nightmare started. Losing that weight was a challenge. I’m now very particular about my diet.”

Fans on social media were amazed by Bautista’s transformation after his appearance at the premiere of “The Last Showgirl” at the 2024 Toronto International Film Festival on September 6. One user tweeted, “No way that’s him.” Another commented, “I can’t believe it, where’s his muscles bro.” Someone else remarked, “What happened? He was a wrestler and now he is an actor. Two different stages of his life and he is smashing it like a boss.”
