Police find Barbara Nomakhosi dead in Bury; suspect dies in M65 collision

A family has described Barbara Nomakhosi, a carer found dead with multiple injuries in Bury, as hard-working and thoughtful.

Her body was discovered on Walnut Avenue in Greater Manchester on Friday, with police believing she died shortly before her discovery.

Later that evening, police identified a suspect who died when an HGV struck a pedestrian on the M65 eastbound at around 9pm. The man, in his forties, was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities are not seeking anyone else in connection with Barbara’s death.

A family spokesperson shared, “Barbara was a caring and hard-working individual. She was thoughtful, always checking on family and friends. She loved her family and enjoyed her work as a carer. We loved Barbara deeply, and life will never be the same without her.”

Officers found the 35-year-old’s body around 10.30pm on Friday, believing she had died earlier in the evening.

A neighbour mentioned calling the police immediately after her daughter heard screaming from the house. She added that another resident rushed to help but couldn’t save her, remarking, “It’s usually so quiet here; nothing like this ever happens.”

Detective Chief Inspector Mark Davis of Greater Manchester Police expressed his condolences, stating, “I know just how much Barbara’s family will miss her, and I hope that their memories of her offer comfort as they cope with this heart-breaking loss. This is a complex investigation, which remains ongoing, and we continue to work with colleagues in Lancashire as they investigate the fatal collision.”
