Deadpool killer Wade Wilson sentenced to death for brutal murders

Family of victims vow to witness Wade Wilson's execution

The family of one of Wade Wilson’s victims has spoken out after the ‘Deadpool killer’ was sentenced to death. Wilson was found guilty in June of murdering Kristine Melton and Diane Ruiz in October 2019.

A judge described the killings as ‘heinous, atrocious and cruel’ and Wilson received the death penalty for his crimes yesterday (27 August). Wilson, 30, made a chilling request through his lawyer to be placed on death row ‘as soon as possible’, though his execution date is yet to be set.

Assistant State Attorneys Andreas Gardiner and Sara Miller explained why Wilson deserved execution. Gardiner stated, “This defendant’s acts warranted the death penalty, not because he killed, how he killed, but why he killed. He killed because he could, he killed because he wanted to, he killed because he’d already done it once, he killed because he was going to do it again.”

Felix Ruiz, Diana Ruiz’s father, promised to attend Wilson’s execution. “This is not the end. The end is when the accused takes his last breath and I will be there at the execution. That’s a promise,” he said. Kristine Melton’s cousin Samantha described the past five years as ‘agony’.

State Attorney for the 20th Judicial Circuit of Florida, Amira Fox, criticised those who have shown unwarranted support for Wilson. “It has not gone unnoticed that this defendant is being idolised by some people who are proud to mix their name with his through public comments, fundraising for him or holding him up as a positive representation of a man, ignoring that he is nothing more than a vicious killer and about the poorest representation of a man there could ever be,” Fox said.

She added, “I’ve been doing this a very long time, 34 years, and I have to say that I have never seen someone as evil as Wade Wilson. And I have never been so stunned as to see some people in the community that actually think it’s a good idea to support somebody that evil and monstrous.” If you have experienced a bereavement and would like to speak with someone in confidence, contact The Compassionate Friends on (877) 969-0010.
