Authorities discover body, believed to be Christine Stenson, in South Yorkshire

A body has been found in the search for a mother who disappeared over two weeks ago. Christine Stenson, 66, was last seen on August 12 in Wheatley, South Yorkshire. She met her sister for coffee around 5pm and was dropped off on Hawke Road shortly after, at 5.05pm. CCTV footage later captured her at various locations in the suburb.

The last sighting on camera was at 6.03pm on Ascot Avenue, near the junction with Sandown Gardens, where she was walking towards Everingham Road. Authorities confirmed via social media today that a body has been discovered.

“Officers searching for missing 66-year-old Christine, last seen on Monday, August 12, have today found a body,” the statement read. Although formal identification is pending, police believe the body is Christine’s.

Her family has been notified and is receiving support from officers.

Previously, police had shared a plea from Christine’s family for her to return home. Detective Superintendent Eleanor Welsh stated, “Christine’s husband, Glen, daughter Lisa, and siblings Gary, Gillian, Paul, and Sandra are devastated by her disappearance.”
