New Thailand Pass rules and registration coming up

Starting this Friday, travellers to Thailand can register for Thailand Pass under the new entry measures. Vaccinated travellers must attach documents including their passport, vaccine information, and proof of insurance with US$10,000. Unvaccinated, or ‘under-vaccinated’ travellers must also submit these materials, along with a negative RT-PTR test result issued within 72 hours before travelling, if they don’t wish to quarantine.
If unvaccinated travellers do not show proof of a negative RT-PCR test, they have the option of registering for Thailand Pass with a 5-day Alternative Quarantine hotel booking. They will then take an RT-PCR test on Day 5. There are some airlines who won’t carry unvaccinated travellers at this time – be sure to check with your carrier before confirming and paying for tickets.

All travellers, regardless of vaccination status, must register on the Thailand Pass website. The government starts accepting applications for the new entry measures from April 29, 2022. The current waiting period is usually 1 – 3 days, but can take longer. However, with a vastly simplified paperwork requirement, approvals may be quicker in the future, after May 1.
Thailand’s PM Prayut Chan-o-cha said that since Thailand heavily depends on tourism for its economy, it was time for the country to follow in the footsteps of other countries easing their travel restrictions. This month, the Tourism Authority of Thailand reported that 444,039 foreign visitors entered Thailand in the first quarter of 2022.
