Phuket Health: Some like it hot!

PHUKET: Yoga Republic, Phuket’s most contemporary hot yoga studio, is launching in Bang Tao Place on Monday, August 12.
Its mission is to provide Hot Yoga and Power Yoga in a green and clean contemporary environment, with state-of-the-art infrared heating and internationally certified teachers.
Yoga Republic will be the only hot yoga studio in Phuket to have an infrared heating system. This clean, eco-friendly and non-allergenic heat therapy system has been making waves in the health world, as not only does the infrared create an ideal environment for practicing yoga, but it also stimulates an anti-inflammatory response that can improve arthritis, decrease pain and speed up the process of soft muscle tissue repair.
Two forms of yoga will be offered; Hot Hatha Yoga, with temperatures rising to approximately 38 degrees, as well as Power/Vinyasa Yoga, which is a more moderate 30 to 32 degrees. In the coming months, Kids’ Yoga will also be offered by Yoga Republic.
The concept is being led by Jack Farras, who opened the very first Bikram Yoga studio in Bali in 2008. Originally from Australia, he now brings his passion, tremendous energy and vast experience to the island of Phuket.
In addition to offering hot yoga, Yoga Republic will also be opening Bang Tao’s first fresh juice bar, which will use local fruit and vegetables to help replenish the body. It will also launch a hip and affordable yoga clothing range called “Figa Lifestyle”.
The classes will be available for walk-ins or through various packages designed for Phuket residents and tourists visiting the island.
In addition to regular classes, Jack will also be holding special two to ten day yoga, transformation and meditation retreats. The retreats will include wholesome, healthy Thai meals, beautiful accommodation and the opportunity to connect with fellow yogis in a stunning beach environment.
