British alleged pedophile nabbed while hiding in Pattaya
The Department of Special Investigation has arrested an alleged British sex offender who was hiding in Pattaya. UK officials contacted Thai Police to help arrest the convicted criminal over 16 counts related to child sex abuse and other charges.
Police Colonel Paisit Wongmueng from the DSI says his department was contacted by the British National Crime Agency on August 6. An arrest warrant had been issued on July 23 for the arrest of the man. 80 year old Norman Lunt, a British citizen has been arrested on charges relating to child sex abuse – 9 counts of sexual abuse, 2 counts of sexual assault, and 5 counts of rape, according to the DSI.
The charges allege Mr Norman abused the two daughters of a close friend over a period of five years.
The DSI received information that Mr Norman was hiding somewhere in Pattaya. Yesterday, one day after the Thai officials received the information from UK authorities, the Immigration Police successfully arrested Norman Lunt in a home located in Bang Lamung.
Mr Norman remains in custody awaiting extradition proceedings.
